StriVectin-SD Review Summary

StriVectin-SD® is advertised as anti-wrinkle cream and stretch mark reducer. It is marketed as an intensive concentrate for existing stretch marks. According to the website, “clinical studies have proven the formula for StriVectin-SD® to effectively improve the appearance of indented surfaces, skin firmness, smooth surfaces and irregularities in skin discoloration.”

The product is manufactured by Klein-Becker, who has also created a StriVectin eye cream and several hand creams intended to reduce the signs of aging on these areas of the body where dermal tissues are thinner and more delicate. Though the exact ingredients are not provided, the web site indicates that all formulas are similar with only slight variations.

StriVectin-SD®
The formula for StriVectin-SD® is not available. The only information given is that the product consists of a proprietary complex of skin firming agents, elasticizers and skin hydrators, and has been clinically shown to visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As mentioned, the product line consists of an eye cream and hand creams, so we will look at the differences between the products’ capabilities.

Other StriVectin Products
StriVectin-SD® Eye Cream is intended to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles around the eye area, and soothe delicate skin in this area. It supposedly contains the same “functional compound” as StriVectin-SD®, but does not contain the peppermint aromatic compounds that could cause irritations.

StriVectin®-HC Ultra Concentrate Cream for the Hands is intended to reduce the appearance of fine lines age spots, and make the skin feel thicker and plumper. According to the website, the “hand-specific” formula reduces the appearance of thin, veiny skin on the back of the hands and also helps protect the skin from environmental damage. The StriVectin®-NE NanoExfoliant is designed to improve the appearance of the hands’ “geometric skin texture and structure,” and can be used every few days to promote elasticity.

The Skin
The original product is available in a six-ounce tube that can be used for either wrinkles or stretch marks as indicated at the website. When used for reducing wrinkles, it is estimated to last about six months, and if used mainly for stretch marks the bottle is said to last 4-6 weeks. Either way, the product is on the expensive side, costing $135.00 for just a six-ounce tube.

According to the product’s usage instructions, a patch test should be done on the forearm before beginning regular use of StriVectin-SD®. It is recommended, at the website, that the product be applied to the target areas three times daily, using a circular motion, until it is absorbed into the skin completely. In 24-hour period, three applications should not be exceeded, and the product is not suitable for pregnant or nursing women.
