Sothys Review Summary

Founded in 1946, Sothys first began as a beauty institute in Paris. After twenty years of producing innovative research on the skin, its founder sold the institute, and over the years it has remained largely intact. Today, Sothy’s emphasis is on manufacturing cosmetics targeted at professional aestheticians and still offers courses on cosmetic chemistry and other beauty-related topics.

Although Sothy’s has devoted a great deal of research to developing new techniques to enhance the skin’s appearance, the company’s other goal is to bring spa-quality skincare to the home of the consumer. The company’s products are available at thousands of retailers in over 100 countries.

Products at a Glance
Sothy’s skin care products fall into three categories: basic, specialized, and intensive treatments. It also offers color cosmetics as well as a men’s line. Some of the products include: Global Anti-Age De-Stressing Treatment Serum, Normalizing Beauty Milk, Hydra-Matt Fluid, Oxyliance Perfect Radience Cream, Hydroptimale THI3 Comfort Cream, Lift Defense Mask, and Active-Contour Tensor Gel.

Products In Focus
Sothys’ Global Defense Anti-Age De-Stressing Treatment Serum is designed primarily for mature, hormone-stressed skin. Unlike other serums that meant to be applied daily, Global Defense is used only for a 21-day renewal cycle several times a year, depending on age.

Although Sothys does not post a list of ingredients, but a little research reveals that this product contains a combination of yeast, soy, emollients, plant extracts and essential oils. Some believe that soy helps to aid healing process and protects against free radicals, thus minimizing skin damage. It also contains lecithin, which helps to repair collagen and restore the elasticity to aging skin.

That said, this product does have its drawbacks. While soy has been shown to even skin pigmentation, in others, it may make unevenness worse. Those with sensitive skin may also find that the essential oils in this serum irritate their skin as much as artificial fragrances.

Website
As is the case with many exclusive brands, the Sothys website can be a bit vague about how exactly its products work. Consumers are now more informed about cosmetics than ever; many companies have found it beneficial to post a glossary of active ingredients. This not only helps consumers to choose the best product for their skin, but also indicates that the manufacturer is in touch with its customers’ needs.

Those who are still interested in trying Sothys products must be prepared to do some additional research. The company does not offer shopping through its website, and does not even provide prices (as the saying goes, if you have to ask, you can’t afford it). While residents and visitors of Miami and New York City have the options of stopping into a Sothys Spa to peruse the complete line, most shoppers will have to rely on a third party online retailer.
