Olay Review Summary |
|
Oil of Olay may be one of the first names that come to mind for most women when they hear the words “beauty fluid.” When the company’s founder first developed his first lotion in South Africa, most moisturizers up until that point had been greasy, thick, and unpleasant to use. After listening to his wife, he realized that women wanted a product that left their skin smooth, soft, and above all, younger.
Fifty years later, the company has since expanded all around the world and now offers scores of products that are designed to improve the skin. It also now simply calls itself “Olay,” perhaps to avoid association with the oily, greasy formulas of the past. However, with so many formulas to choose from, it may be difficult for many women to determine which is most appropriate for their skin.

The Olay brand now consists of several separate lines, each with a different stated purpose. These lines include: Definity, Age Defying Series, Clarity, Complete, Daily Facials, Hydrate & Cleanse, Olay Body Lotion, Olay Classics, Olay Shower, Regenerist, Total Effects, and Touch of Sun.

 | Products In Focus |
|
Olay’s Regenerist line is one of several to promise a reduction in wrinkles. However, it is also the only line to contain amino acid peptide complexes, some of which have been shown to soften the appearance of wrinkles and increase firmness by boosting the synthesis of new collagen. Unfortunately, so far only a couple of complexes have actually been clinically proven to produce significant results, and neither is specified in any ingredient list.
Proper nourishment is also very important for maintaining healthy looking skin. Although many Regenerist products, such as Night Recovery Moisturizing Treatment, contain emollients and water-binding agents, they do not contain Hyaluronic Acid, which has been shown to hydrate the skin as well as bring nutrients to cells with no direct blood supply. It may also help to flush impurities away.

 | Website |
|
As one might expect from a large, international brand like Olay, the company’s website is quite detailed. It offers a complete listing of all products, which are organized both by collection any by type (i.e. cleansers, moisturizers, etc.). This helps to give consumers some direction while browsing through this enormous line.
In order to make designing a skincare regimen even easier, Olay also offers live consultations with experts who are available for questions 10 hours a day. Granted, this advice is likely to be somewhat sales-oriented, but it may be helpful for basic questions.
Consumers may also sign up for free samples through Olay’s website, which offers rotating special offers and contests. However, those who are interested in trying a specific product may have to wait a while, and new formulas are far more likely to be offered.
