Neutrogena Review Summary |
|
Neutrogena is probably one of the most recognizable skin care lines currently available on drug store shelves. With its strong emphasis on clinical testing, it would seem that the company's standards are quite rigorous. Initially it was primarily known for its acne solutions, but in recent years Neutrogena's line has expanded considerably.
Yet in spite of its attempts to move into the arena of anti-aging, it seems clear that the company's bread and butter are still acne solutions. For in spite of all of the website's claims of these products being "dermatologist recommended" they include relatively few of the most advanced ingredients currently available.

Neutrogena offers a huge line of skin and hair care products, as well as a range of color cosmetics and a men's line. Some products include: Blackhead Eliminating Warming Cleanser, Liquid Neutrogena, Norwegian Formula Body Emulsion, Energizing Sugar Body Scrub, Anti-Residue Shampoo, Razor Defense Shave Gel, Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock, Lip Boost Intense Moisture Lipstick, and Visibly Firm Night Cream.

According to Neutrogena, the big difference between its Visibly Firm Night Cream and other products is the fact that theirs uses active copper. While there is some evidence to indicate that the mineral may help to speed the healing of wounds, unfortunately there is no direct connection between this action and the reduction of wrinkles. This formula seems to be on the right track by recognizing that a decrease of collagen and elastin over time are largely responsible for increased sagging and crinkling, unfortunately this product does not make use of some of the more advanced peptide complexes, such as Matrixyl 3000, that have been shown to significantly increase collagen synthesis.

Much like its packaging, the Neutrogena web site has a very clean and sleek look. Continuing with its "dermatologist recommended" theme, the company includes a section of frequently asked questions for dermatologists that includes information on the root causes of acne, as well as how to prevent skin damage. As helpful as this information may be, unfortunately this section does not include a glossary of terms and ingredients, which has become increasingly popular on many cosmetic company websites as skin care advances continue to grow more complex.
It may also come as somewhat of a surprise that Neutrogena does not offer online shopping. Although its products are available through a number of online retailers as in grocery stores and pharmacies across the country, consumers may enjoy having the full range of products available from which to choose, which may not be the case at every retailer.
