Murad Review Summary |
|
Dr. Howard Murad is a California-based dermatologist and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCLA. Over the years he has treated nearly 50,000 patients, and claims to have confronted virtually every kind of skin problem possible. Based on this experience he decided to develop his own line of products designed to treat the most common skin problems, from acne to cellulite.
In spite of the variation of patients in his practice, these days wrinkle prevention has become Dr. Murad's bread and butter. The author of the book, Wrinkle Free Forever, he has created products that are designed to improve the skin "from the inside out." Despite what Murad's infomercials may claim, skin care experts are skeptical about whether these products can actually deliver what they promise.

Murad's Day Reform Treatment is an anti-wrinkle cream that is designed to preserve skin collagen by preventing environmental damage. In order to do this, the product incorporates a number of antioxidant ingredients, most notably, Retinol. Although Retinol is prized for its ability to protect against free radical damage, it does carry the added drawback of increasing photosensitivity, thus putting the skin at greater risk for cancer.
Another interesting fact about Retinol is that it can be quite unstable, and any exposure to light will render it ineffective. Unfortunately, Day Reform Treatment is packaged in a jar, which means that as soon as it is opened, it is essentially useless as far as its Retinol is concerned.

 | Website |
|
Murad has a fairly thorough web site that is relatively free from the poetically vague descriptions that plague many cosmetic company sites. It offers a full list of products, online shopping, and a glossary of common dermatology terms. This is particularly helpful, as very few consumers are familiar with the chemical components that typically make up most modern cosmetics.
The site also includes a section devoted to consumer testimonials, although these only refer to Murad's acne treatments rather than its wrinkle treatments. This seems a bit odd, considering the company's promise to keep its customers "wrinkle free forever."
