Jan Marini Skin Research Review Summary

Jan Marini Skin Research was founded by one of the pioneers of glycolic acid research, Jan Marini. While the company still dedicates a lot of energy to the continued development of Alpha Hydroxy Acid treatments, it has since expanded to encompass a full range of skin care, from antioxidants to Vitamins. Although most of the products in this line are intended for home use, a handful may be used only under the direction of a skincare professional.

Although Jan Marini claims to incorporate the latest advances in dermatology into her line, consumers may have to take her word for it, since the website is less than forthcoming about the brand’s formulas.

Products at a Glance
The Jan Marini Skin Research line consists of several collections. These include: Bioglycolic, C-ESTA, Antioxidant Group, Supplemental Products, Therapeutic, Skin Care Management, Age Intervention and Transformation Line.

Products In Focus
Jan Marini Skin Research consists of several collections that are designed to reveal younger, fresher skin, but the Transformation Line seems to mainly focus on increasing collagen production. This is extremely beneficial to more mature skin, as collagen levels tend to decline as we get older, causing the skin to sag and crease. In order to counteract these effects, Jan Marini employs peptide technology, which has been shown to be quite effective for combating the signs of aging.

Like all of the products in this collection, Transformation Serum includes Transformation Growth Factor (TGF Beta-1) as its main active ingredient. According to the product description, this ingredient helps to improve cell communication, protect the skin against free radical damage, and boost production of collagen and elastin. Although some cosmetics manufacturers herald TGF Beta-1 as the key to youthful skin, many skincare experts warn that such claims may be exaggerated, as its effectiveness in topical treatments has not been established.

Website
Visitors to Jan Marini’s website will likely notice that it seems to be missing one very important feature: shopping. Consumers may browse through a complete list of products, but they are not available through the manufacturer. Surprisingly, the website does not even include a tool to help consumers locate a nearby retailer based on their zip code. The only way to find Jan Marini products is by calling a 1-800 number.

Although some of the product descriptions on this website provided detailed information on ingredients, this is not always the case. The Age Intervention line, for example, reveals little about the formula itself, making it difficult for consumers to determine whether or not this product is right for them. With new cosmetics appearing on the market every day, it is understandable that consumers would want to arm themselves with a bit of research before walking into a department store or spa to make a purchase. The manufacturers of most high-quality products understand this and post ingredient details prominently, since a well-informed customer is more likely to be a satisfied customer.
